Instagram is taking over. After several rumours and speculations about this newest platform, Instagram launched IGTV, a video channel platform for users to upload long, prerecorded, and creatively produced video contents. Based on previous buzzes, it was said that the platform could host video up to one hour duration. It is not entirely true nor wrong. We have checked the feature and found out that unverified creators only can upload videos with maximum duration of fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, verified creators can upload videos up to one hour long.
The video format will also be vertical only as it is one of Instagram’s signature features since they launched Instagram Story and Live. From a glance, it can be directly compared to YouTube, but with Instagram’s massive community (currently stands at one billion users) and cult following, it wouldn’t be impossible for Instagram to take YouTube’s crown. This feature has been available both for iOS and Android.
