Accompanied by a one-month challenge prior to the event, we and MLDSPOT joined forces and picked 30 lucky participants to attend MLDSPOT X NEIGHBOURLIST Instaclass: Branding 101. Taken place at Delapan Padi restaurant in one of the local industry’s capital cities, Bandung, we brought four of the many experts of the concept of branding.
Several other brands also came and supported the event, which includes Bandung-based Hi Jack Sandals, Sukku Collective, also all the way from Jakarta, Hawkeye Fightwear.
The first session was opened by Manual Jakarta’s very own Hadi Ismanto, where he shared accustomed and comprehensive branding knowledge, strategies, and the three branding values; practical, emotional, and social, based on his experiences building Manual, Malt Studio, and Minimalket. In this session, Hadi also gave a group challenge for the participants to create business plans and branding mapping.
The second session was the ‘From Local to Global’ brand talk show, hosted by our co-founder Gregorius Andre and joined by three local brand owners, who managed to break into the international market with their strategically planned branding. These were Aldeo Plato of Life Behind Bars, Ipam of Evil Army Facts, and Ardila Ramadhan of DOMINATE.
Each shared their own personal endeavor in building and taking off their fashion brands globally and how they connected the brands with something that they like, such as Aldeo’s passion towards the biking culture shown by the brand’s DNA and reference, Ipam’s favored pop culture, including the latest Evil Army’s X Star Wars collection, and DOMINATE’s fascination and dedication to their consistent theme and their connection to music.
Out of six participating groups, three groups won the challenge and were awarded at the end of the event, including the three winners of the Instagram challenge who received DOMINATE jacket, LBB bag, and Evil Army’s tee.
