Coincides with Indonesian independence day, TENDOS has just unveils a short film titled “Kain Dari Tanah Seribu Larangan”, highlighting its experimentation with the material “Poleng”, a distinct fabric from Balingbing Village of the Kanekes tribe. Kanekes is a traditional community living in West Java, Indonesia, that observe many mystical taboos to many of their life’s aspects. Their textile is a legacy from one generation to the next for more than 300 years. Poleng is comprised through an elaborate process of traditional weaving technique that requires patience and high level of crafting skill. This fabric will be used as the material for TENDOS’ upcoming capsule collection, Volume VI, that will be released by the end of this August.
