This project, as the title suggests, is a study of different lights that affects a state of human emotion during night time. Each work displayed will explore different light treatments as well as paying homage to the greatest light weavers and visual designers of the past 50 years such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Tim Walker, Paolo Roversi, Man Ray, and Wong Kar Wai.

“Light is knowledge, knowledge is love, love is freedom, freedom is energy, energy is all. Without a doubt without light you can’t have images.” Vittorio Storaro – ‘Cinematographer’s Style’

The project comprises of four different mediums; a short film, portraits, paintings and light installation, all weaving fashion, art and beauty together, but each with their own interpretation of how we use light to create beauty.

Stephanie’s film is an enigmatic night journey of a girl using light as her guidance. Advan wants to explore his 4 most intimate elements in photography, which are: portrait, black-and-white-like-piano, feminine figures, and nighttime. Gerry and his team’s reconstruction of a crime scene will use programmed lights, sound effects, mannequins and props as seen in a cinematographer’s point of view. Talitha’s paintings series is nothing like she’s ever done before, painting with black and white inverses depicting female beauty and clouds of smoke.

All artists will eventually produce a light installation combining their skills and joined interpretation of light, which will be the center point of the ‘study’. And even though the mediums varied, almost all of the artists have a fashion background and deep interest in fashion and women, resulting in a very stylish work. The result will be enigmatic, dramatic and very, very cinematic.

As it is a multi-disciplinary exhibition, ours will reach a very wide spectrum of audience. It is art for everyone, for every community, especially young people struggling to create great art like us.
