The biggest and national aircraft from Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia recently announced that they plan to include the passenger service charge on tickets on February 2015. They will start including the passenger service charge on its domestic and international flight tickets from February 1st 2014 following the regulation made by the Transportation Ministry in September last year.

The passenger service charge would be included on flight tickets bought on or after February 1st 2014 and for flights on or after March 1st 2015 according to the official press release. The Indonesian flag carrier is coordinating with state-owned airport management companies Angkasa Pura I and II, other airlines, and the International Air Transport Association, which is the trade association for the world’s airlines.

The passenger service charge is a fee for service in airport, charged by airports operator, and it varies by airport in Indonesia. At Soekaro-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Jakarta, international departures could cost up to IDR 100.000 while the domestic flights could cost up to IDR 40.000. Since last year, the government requires all airlines in Indonesia to include the passenger service charge on ticket prices by March 1st 2015.
