Havie Parkasya or better known as Laze, is a local rapper who has been making moves in the local music scene. While he used to be one of the most fearsome battle rappers, beating numerous local rappers with some very witty wordplay, it is now that Laze stakes his claim to the local music industry by launching his first EP album called “Vacant Room”. According to him, he has been making songs for a while now and have collected a few dozen decent songs. After a while, he decided to release an EP that contains some of the best. Also, with the rise of sneaker and streetwear culture among the local youth, there seems to be a more open perception to local hip hop acts a way to appreciate the culture through the music.

Furthermore, Laze feels that his EP represents a whole new sound and vibe that is different from what is offered by other local acts. And even though the subject matter is things that we might encounter any day, he still has a very unique point of view, that is packaged with some fun wordplay which makes the album really enjoyable to listen and explore. The title “Vacant Room” serves as metaphor for the empty space in the local music industry that is yet to be filled to this current day. With his music as the keys to enter the promised land, this EP is definitely a monumental step in his career.

There are a few interesting sounds coming from this EP album, we can hear influences from International yet worldwide known hip hop artists such as JAY Z, J. Cole, and Drake. The overall sound of the album reaches new heights for a locally made hip hop album with Twiezzy dishing assist after assist on every track by acting as beatmaker and producer. There are also noted contributions from Ayub Jonn and fellow local rapper Mack G as collaborators on the tracks called “Good Time”, “P.I.D”, and “Take Notes”. Talking about tracks, the song “Nothing Really Change” definitely stands out. Talking about the hustles and experiences Laze has been through while reflecting on his current position, this song really gives you a perspective on his point of view in things.
