Everyone favorite womenswear cult label from Jakarta, Nikicio recently uploaded two videos related to their latest collection for spring and summer 2015, the Backstage Video for its Campaign Shoot and the Presentation. Both of the videos were created by videographer Brotzyeah and Dimas Hardiyanto. While the artistic videos were styled by Aoki Anwar with make up and hair by Christina Martha. As for the spring and summer 2015 collection, it is created by Abraham Dewanggana who is popularly known as the Creative Director of Nikicio. Through their official site, he mentioned that, “Each collection has always been about the events happening in and around the life of a Nikicio woman, and I would like to shy away from the growing up formula, replacing it with the emotion of who she is, what she wants, and how she translates it into her presence”.”I then take this idea of a woman, which to me appears in the women of Jeihan and of Cecily Brown, taken with the mysterious sexuality, uplifting in a way so personal it is blurry, the somewhat palpable control they have – or do not have – upon themselves, versatile and vulnerable at the same time”.

Abraham later explained that he explored the contradicting energy of these references with sheer pieces, constructed it so that it manipulates the silhouette, and then balanced it with rigid, tailored pieces in menswear fabric done with feminine details, that made Nikicio so popular among local buyers. And of course, it still speaks that language of active wear although it also still represent the street. He also mentioned, “I found that there is weightiness to the image that we were developing, so together with Chitra Subijakto who works closely with print techniques for her brand Sejauh Mata Memandang. We created a naive sand pattern to neutralize the palette. We tried to look at different ways in reinterpreting photographs onto fabric, expecting a less literal way compared to what some of the archives have been about”.
