Few months, the reggae musician Muhammad Egar or better known by the popular name of Ras Muhamad made a history, in particularly for reggae music scene in Indonesia, by appearing as the first Indonesian reggae artist to performed in the city of Kingston, Jamaica. His performance is part of the show EarthHourJA 2015. And during his one month visit, he claimed that he gain lot of new experiences and love because in fact, his arrival was welcomed by local people. According to him, “When I got to Jamaica, they were surprised about me coming from all the way from Indonesia because it is so far away, about 36 hours flight. That is more than a day. And what surprised them more is that it appears than Indonesia also had a reggae musician. They thought all the Asians are Chinese. But it was such a blessed for me to go there.” His heavy hours in the capital of Jamaica is also recorded well by talented videographer, Punang Adipradana, when he joined the reggae singer started from the airport in Jakarta, went for transit in England, to eventually hangout in the Caribbean Sea of Jamaica. Everything has been sorted into an interesting short film documentary entitled “Ras Muhamad: Journey to JA”.
In addition, while in Jamaica, Ras Muhamad also conducted a series of activities, ranging from interviews with Reggaeville.com, had a practice session at Alternative Music LTD with a Jamaican reggae band Conscious Rebelz, played for an intimate concert in EarthHourJA 2015 event held by Ranny Williams Entertainment on March 28th 2015, and met with his idol, Naptali who is also known to be heavily involved in his new album called “Salam”. “A lot of memory there and certainly to met those reggae musicians inspired me a lot as an artist. I also met Naptali and decided to create a music video together. It was fun!”. Not to forget, Ras Muhamad also took his time to visit the 56 Hope Road, which is the home and museum of the late Bob Marley, the most respected reggae musician and father figure of this music genre. “It was a dream come true to be able to visit the Bob Marley museum. I am quite moved as well.” Furthermore, for this documentary there were also behind the scenes moment for his upcoming single and music video called “Farmerman”. This music video was taken in the market area of Mandeville and also in Clarendon, Jamaica. Ras Muhamad also further explained his excitement, “What I gained from there is truly a blessing. I felt like being born again in music, in the industry, as they gave me a new passion and something to look at too. In Kingston, Jamaica reggae music is 24 hours nonstop.
