As part of their celebration for the 25th anniversary, premium shopping center located in the heart of Jakarta known as Plaza Indonesia recently hosted their very own fashion week called Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week for Spring and Summer 2015. Taking place over five days, starting on March 23rd to 27th 2015, the show was much more different than usual because there were a lot more participation from the young-talented local designers instead of embracing international brands that are part of the permanent tenants of Plaza Indonesia. Several designers and brand names such as Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan, Albert Yanuar, Yosep Sinudarsono, Allerira, Bateeq, and others were also displayed their latest designs in Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week. According to Ria Juwita who is the Event Manager of Plaza Indonesia, she mentioned that, “This year we presented more contributions from local designers because we, Plaza Indonesia, wanted to embrace the local fashion industry.”

Some designers who attended the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2015 also leaked their upcoming collection that will be available exclusively for the premium shopping mall. According to one of the tenants, designer Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan further explained, “I used a lot of material made manually by hand and has a traditional method which means there will be weaving. But it still will have a modern look that Indonesians could relate to. There are a lot of short cut shirts which gives the impression of being young and cheerful.” While the local brands, Bateeq and Alleira were consistent with their unique characteristic of batik. Each provided an unique traditional design that previously had not been encountered. Bateeq will display one of the oldest of Indonesian batik motifs, while Alleira will have floral batik with unique painting technique.
