As with all great revolutions or social upheavals, change can happen when the people raise their voices and speak not just their minds but their hearts. SCAPE was born after an outcry from the young people of the next generation to have a space they could call their own. In 2004, a youth consultation exercise was conducted where over 2.200 voices were heard. In answer, the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports set aside a sprawling 1.2hq creative space in the heart of town to engage and enable young people to explore their social interests and creative passions. In January 2006, SCAPE Co. Ltd, a non-profit organization, was established to make the SCAPE dream a reality for young people. The name “SCAPE” not only represents a physical platform where young talents can hone and showcase their skills but also a mind space which is constantly bubbling with new creations, ideations, and possibilities. The asterisk represents a wildcard of infinite prospects for creative expression at this exciting new urban community building. The youth made their voices heard and established changes to last a lifetime. Stay excited with SCAPE for their brand new urban playground, now open at 2 Orchard Link.
