The Indonesian music scene mourns as a sad news just came by. Senior musician Yon Koeswoyo exhaled his last breath on Friday, January 5th 2018 around 5AM at the age of 77 leaving a wife and four children. During his life he was known for his works with the band Koes Plus. In his last few years he was known to be battling the illness he suffered.
Koestono Koeswoyo was born in Tuban, East Java, September 27th 1940. He began his musical career when he and his brothers formed a group called Koes Brothers, delivering pop and rock songs. The band name was latter changed to Koes Plus and spawned over 900 songs in more than 80 albums, which most of them were featured on Rolling Stone Indonesia’s 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time. May his legacy will always be remembered.
