In the wake of their multiple small gigs and regular showcases, LOKATARA upped their game by throwing their first-ever music festival, LOKATARA Music Festival. Taking place in Kuningan City Ballroom, on Friday 23rd November, they brought ten local independent musicians and four in-demand international indie musicians. These include Ardhito Pramono, Mondo Gascaro, Polka Wars, The Trees and The Wild, Yung Heazy, Mellow Fellow, and the highlight of the night, Boy Pablo.
The show opener was Horse Planet Police Department as they performed some of the songs from their self-titled album, ‘Prelude to Ascension’ and ‘Euphoric!’. Other local performers were also giving out their signature performances through their songs and styles, such as heartthrob Ardhito Pramono, the dark and mysterious The Trees and The Wild, and the soothing and jazzy Mondo Gascaro.
As the night fell, the crowd was getting bigger to watch the last three international performers; Yung Heazy, Mellow Fellow, and the most sought-after Boy Pablo. The audiences constantly burst into laughter due to Yung Heazy’s bouncy and comical performance and singing some of their hits; ‘Cuz You’re My Girl’ and ‘Baby Don’Chu Worry’.
After that was Mellow Fellow who spelled the audiences with their personal and engaging music, which include ‘You’ll Be Alright’, ‘Best Friend’, ‘Dancing’ and ‘How Was Your Day’. Finally, the crème de la crème of LOKATARA Music Festival, the most awaited and anticipated performer of the night, Boy Pablo. We were practically deafened by the thundering applause and screams from the girl-dominated audiences when they opened the performance with ‘Dance Baby’ and from the media pit, we felt the ground shaking as the excited crowds jumped around.
Nicolas, Gabriel, Eric, Henrik, and Sigmund concluded the night with several of their popular songs; ‘Ur Phone’, ‘Sick Feeling’, ‘Everytime’, and an encore consisted of ‘I’m Really Tired’ and ‘Feeling Lonely’ after they tricked the audiences by pretending to finish early.
Besides the core and soul of the event, which was music, other supporting aspects were also provided by LOKATARA. Art exhibitions were placed to welcome the audiences into the venue and on several other spots, along with some entertainment spaces ‘Movie Box’ and ‘Karaoke Box’, food & beverages area filled with Indonesian cuisines, and also a merchandise booth by Lokatara Dept.
