Bringing the biggest whisky event in the world to Jakarta, Indonesia Whisky Research Society successfully conducted their first event ever, Whisky Live Jakarta. Boasting the tagline ‘Good Spirit, Good Food, Good Art’, it was embodied well through the course of the event on November 3rd and 4th at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski. The journey that afternoon was commenced with an art tour guided by Deborah Iskandar of Indonesian Luxury as one of the art curators for Whiskey Live Jakarta. During the tour, Deborah showcased several of the displayed arts from the five renowned and participating Indonesian artists.
After the tour, the event was officially opened with a symbolic toast done by the VIPs of Whiskey Live, some including Whisky Live Jakarta and Indonesia Whisky Research Society CEO Andrew Setiono, Deborah Iskandar, Irwan Mussry of Time International, performer Marcel Siahaan, singer Kallula, businessman Indra Djokosoetono, and the Chairperson of British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia Ainsley Mann.
We proceeded to taste the fine “water of life” at the whisky tasting and masterclasses segment, which consisted of whooping 120 spirit samples from 17 participating brands such as Highland Park, Jameson, The Glenrothes, Singleton, and The Macallan. Each brand also prepared their own whisky experts and specialists to guide and provide the visitors with the necessary knowledge.
Then, the night was concluded with a fine dining experience at Kempinski’s in-house Japanese fusion restaurant, Oku and other equally tasteful and gastronomic delicacies from UNION, BASQUE – Bar De Tapas, Jigger and Pony Singapore, and Wishbone. Also, a performance from Marcel Siahaan to elevate the Whisky Live Jakarta 2018 experience.
The festivity continued for the second and last day with the aforementioned standards of food, art, and liquor and two musical performances by Classmate Journal and Nicho Benito. Through their Instagram, Whisky Live thanked all the visitors, participants, and partners for the support and extend their hope for the next event next year.
