Ten years is an accomplishment of its own for an event and Wall of Fades 2018 celebrated this milestone with ‘The 10th Edition: A Decade of Work’. Organized by Indonesian Denim Group and Darahkubiru, they stayed true to the concept of bazaar and exhibition with more matured and further developed theme and activities.
For starter, this year they managed to bring two of the biggest names in the global denim scene, Ruedi Karrer of @swissjeansfreak and Robin Meijerink of @robindenim. Ruedi brought some of his precious denim collections, which are showcased near the Oldblue Co. booth.
The number and treatment of tenants also expanded. 50+ fashion tenants participated and there were also eight premium tenants who occupied special booths of WOF18. Ten of the Indonesian brands also collaborated to create ten exclusive products just for Wall of Fades 2018, which were displayed throughout the areas on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Gourmet Floor of Kuningan City.
The event’s tenth-year momentum was also used to launch the first ever ‘Darahkubiru Magazine Vol. 1’, Indonesia’s first denim journal. The magazine is a publishing summary of the ten-year journey of denim scene in Indonesia.
A lot of activities were also conducted to enliven WOF18 such as multiple talk shows with different themes covering denim, fashion, and coffee craftsmanship; outfit contest resulted in three winners, and multi-genre music performances.
Many installations were also present including the ten brands collaboration booths, WOF’s signature denim walls, and our very own ‘Tanah Airku Biru’ installation of Indonesia map wrapped in several types of fabric, predominantly denim. We dedicated the project for WOF to keep up with the burning decade spirit.
The double-digit period means more expectation for next year and we’ll see what will they bring for next year. Stay tuned on their Instagram to be the first to aware of the upcoming Wall of Fades 2019.
