Two stamps depicting cartoon character Tintin in Indonesia’s Komodo Island and Kemayoran, Jakarta were recently launched in Brussels, Belgium to commemorate 65 years of Indonesia and Belgium relations, an Indonesian Embassy official in Brussels stated on Wednesday. Riaz Saehu, the counselor at the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, noted that the special stamps portraying the iconic scenes of Tintin spending time in Indonesia have been created through the joint cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, Herge and Moulinsart Museum.
The last one is the company owning the copyrights of Tintin character, and Belgium’s Post Company (B-Post). The stamps will be used for correspondence by the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium. The launch event of the two stamps was attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium Havas Oegroseno, Belgium’s Deputy Foreign Minister Jan Van Dessel, diplomats from Indonesia and Belgium, and some local famous figures. Ambassador Havas emphasized that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Belgium have been fruitful during the past four years, which is apparent by the large number of investments made by Belgium companies in Indonesia.
