The heightened consciousness toward the arts in Jakarta has brought up the need to introduce its next venture that is the accessibility and the collectability of it.
The Goods Department or The Goods Dept along with Art Department introduces Art Tech, an independent show capture the essence of a collaboration between art and technology. This show is supported by Samsung GALAXY Note 4 by Samsung Indonesia, Alvin T, and a creative surface that defines every surface as a creative potential known as Layer.
The essence of a collaboration between art and technology lies on its real-time characteristic, evoking a sense of anticipation reflected in a performance art quality. The concept of the event ArtTech is to display the process of making art in front of an observing audience, by way of mirroring a live drawing made on gadgets to individual screens.
The venue is transformed into a combination of an artist’s studio and a workshop, where artists are assigned a gadget to create art, and the finished product will be directly printed on site at a printing laboratory provided by Layer. This format showcases the technical ability of the product, creating a dialogue between the human-touch element in making art and how technology reacts to it. Participating artists are Ade Darmawan, Agus Suwage, Handiwirman, Maharani Mancanagara, Oom Leo, and Pramuhendra.
The venue will be divided into zoned with pods acting as a partition or divider, and each with a specific function, like work stations for artists to work (with a gadget connected to a screen) made with cube tents for intended isolations, center station for purchasing and collecting the artworks, an area for printing and packaging the finished artworks, and a showcase for promotional products. Each pod will be constructed individually and arranged to create a multi-activity ambience, encouraging exhibition goers to interact and be curious of what is offered by each area. The captions and statements of the exhibition will be projected on the floor, and a promotional projection wall will be reserved at the back of the space to welcome patrons.
A finished artwork is available immediately for purchase after the live drawing is complete, and consequently printed and packed especially for the size (an option of on-site framing could also be made available). The customer will be escorted to a dedicated cashier at The Goods Dept, to also be immersed in the retail experience of the event.
