In overall, the city has an amazing atmosphere and this time around we will discuss about one of our culinary journey. As the capital of Central Java Province, the city is also dubbed as the city of Lumpia.
If you are planning to go to Semarang, of course you will get a lot of input for a culinary tour there. Indeed the city is famous for its rich culinary, you will find few if not a lot of famous kinds, such as Galantine, Chicken Rice or Nasi Ayam, Tahu Gimbal, Bandeng Presto, Wingko Babad, Nasi Gandul and of course not to be missed the authentic Lumpia (pastries of Chinese, similar to fried spring roll).
For the last food that we mentioned, we decided to come over and visit the oldest one, which is the Lumpia Gang Lombok. It was founded by the couple named Tjoa Thay Yoe and Wasih, and now has been passed on to his descendants. In addition to being the oldest, the spring rolls stall is also famous because they maintain the authenticity of the taste. Lumpia was originally a typical of Chinese cuisine, which is now in Semarang has undergone a process of localization and adapted to Javanese tongue. The spring rolls in Gang Lombok still has that savory flavor, combined with a salty taste that exist in a mixed mixture of bamboo shoots and shrimp, all wrapped with a skin of dough.
To enjoy these spring rolls or Lunpia, simply mixed it with its original brown sauce, fresh pickles, chili sauce, and chive leaves. For those of you who are interested with Lumpia Gang Lombok, please come and visit their stall in Jalan Lombok No. 11 Semarang, Central Java. They are open from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. It cost quite expensive as they sell it for IDR 12.000 a piece.
