Things are not always necessary about learning but perhaps looking at something new to discover. At least this is something that Indoestri was trying to do for with their tri-annual event known as Indoestri Day. This event is held by Indoestri Makerspace on the weekend and part of their collaboration project with local crowdfunding platform known as Kitabisa.com. For the second event, they created a special theme called “Made in Indoestri” and is related to their mission, which is to crowdfunded three kinds project submitted by the members of Indoestri. These projects were divided by the scale and the level of complexity. The project is categorized into small, medium, and large-scale project. Of all the things that we saw, we are totally support those medium-sized project because it is new and focus to the surrounding environment, particularly in West Jakarta area. Along with the main event, the Indoestri team also introduced us to two mini classes like Chalk Handlettering and Rubber Stamp Makin, private rooms or thing that can be used as an office, the launch party of Indoestri Shop which is filled with a bunch of merchandise from smartphone cases, tote bags, graphic t-shirts, posters, pins, and many more. Last but not least is that we able to see and visit they small yet intimated market called Pasar Indoestri which is located at their cafe, Dawn and Willow. This is the first market that they create and is definitely a plus point from the whole event, at least for us. Throughout the market, we found several new and upcoming local brands, from Timba, Pasar Gambar, Afteraise, Sekkha, Cotton and Tartlets, Baketionary, Duft and Chandelle, Mao Mao, Potto Mikku, Wake and Wonder, Kasual + Project, Woodka, Er Cole, Lestari, Tavari, Ayu Larasati, Kana Goods, and many more.

As for the second level for “Made in Indoestri”, they exhibited top-notch furniture pieces and anything that is related to the home-made or local business. It is almost hard to believe that the items were created of the Indonesian labour and through their creative process because apparently everything is great and comes with great quality. Furthermore, inspired individuals were also given a closer look at this Makerspace through a talk show that the Indoestri team and Kompas Gramedia prepared. Through this channel, they were given an interesting insight of how a community can survive and provide something positive for society. This event lasts for thirty minutes and after that we were given a chance to sign up as their full member. People who joined the Self Made movement by signing up as their member could enjoy the one day only Special Membership Offer. Indoestri Day is a tri-annual event held by Indoestri Makerspace with a mission to deliver and giving exposure to potential makers so their creations can be appreciated by a larger scale of audience. Indoestri Day aimed to stimulate the society to be involved with production process, also research and development in product design. In the 2nd Indoestri Day they will reveal their first ever collaboration with kitabisa.com with project under “Made in Indoestri”.
