Having strong background in making visual elegance and developing ideas for big thinkers, Keenan Pearce and Makna Creative initiated an exhibition entitled “Jakarta; an Organized Chaos” last October 1 – 2, 2016. Taking place in Gedung Olveh – one of the outcomes of Kota Tua’s (Old Town) revitalization that’s currently being exposed and opened for public to showcase their works – the exhibition appeared to be such a self-relieving platform for Jakarta citizens.
Jakarta; an Organized Chaos was held as a form of dedication from Keenan Pearce and Makna Creative to the capital city of Indonesia. Through this exhibition, they aim to deliver the good sides of Jakarta that people have been forgetting. Despite having a lot of awful commentaries and impressions, Jakarta is a city that has a lot to offer, and the exhibition portrayed just every bit of it. It comprised of motivational happiness, answering what people have been whining in regard to the urban environment. By delivering such diversity, the exhibition pulled people to actually appreciate the city and feel the beauty and soul of Jakarta.
The exhibition also showcased Keenan’s personality as a hustler for he knew how to circumvent difficulties. This was shown through the 400 printed pictures within the exhibition that he photographed personally. Topping that, Keenan and Makna Creative also chose Kota Tua (Old Town) as a place to exhibit their works for they were sure that the place is the root of Jakarta. This is where we should come back to, and that the current generation shall not dismiss the idea of visiting the place from time to time.
Although only for a short period of time, “Jakarta; an Organized Chaos” has left a great impact to Jakarta citizens. You can visit Makna Creative and Keenan Pearce‘s Instagram accounts to recall what had happened during the exhibition.
