Titled the Indigo Dye Class, this session focused on the uniqueness of specialized natural indigo dyeing process. The indigo itself is extracted from the leaves called Indigofera and it’s one of the richest and oldest natural dyes the world has ever known. In this class, people were taught on how to dye a fabric using the Shibori technique, which is also known as “Jumputan” in Indonesia. It involves binding certain sections of the cloth to achieve the desired patterns.
More than 20 people attended this class, who were given tote bag for each of them that they can use to apply the technique. In the end, everyone made their own personalized goods with different and distinctive patterns. This class is a great way to teach you to appreciate goods that can only improve with age. For those who are interested, worry not because they will surely plan to open another class like this in the future. Be sure not to miss out.
