Goods Burger and Taco Local have teamed up to bring you the tastiest mash-up of the world’s ultimate hand-held foods. You guessed it, the burger and the taco. Goods Burger very own Chef Erlene Susanto’s burgers have often been pronounced as the best in Jakarta. Her burger philosophy of only using the freshest ingredients and exploring different flavor combinations is what has people coming back again and again. Meanwhile, Mexican street food enthusiasts and Taco Local Chef, Sebastian Subakti has brought his unique interpretation on traditional dishes to his tables. The Goods Dept as the curated department store attached to Goods Burger has been collaborating with fashion brands to make unique produces for some time already. The group wanted to do something that has that same collaborative spirit with food. The Goods Burger team approached Taco Local because they love both the food and what Taco Local has contributed to the Jakarta food scene. Chef Erlene Susanto further mentioned, “Burgers and Mexican flavors go well together. Both are using fresh ingredients and complex spices which add a depth to the patty.”
After a few brainstorming sessions for this mouthwatering collaboration, the two chefs hit the kitchen and started cooking. The result is the delectable Lengua Burger, a juicy premium Goods Burger beef patty that is cooked to perfection, smothered in frijoles, salsa fresca, house made Mexican cheese sauce, cilantro coleslaw, and topped with tender slices of Taco Local’s marinated and slow-cooked specialty Lengua beef tongue. This Mexican American concoction is piled high between two soft toasted burger buns. Sebastian Subakti of Taco Local when asked why they decided to use it as their special ingredient, he said, “We picked Lengua solely because it is the best selling item on our menu from day one. Burgers and tacos both have similarities in being simple, everyday food that never fail in comforting.” Of course the collaboration does not end with the burger alone. The teams has designed a limited edition “Viva Lengua Burger” tote bag. The bag will be available in special package with Lengua Burger, a side of chips and dips, and a coke. For those of you who want to try the Lengua Burger alone or buy the bag alone, they can do that too.
The retail price for the whole package of “Viva Lengua Burger” tote bag, Lengua Burger, a side of chips and dips, and a coke is IDR 199.000, while the Lengua Burger with chips and dips is IDR 100.000, and the burger only cost you IDR 79.000. A portion of sales will be donated to the non-profit organization called Terima Kasih Petani who is dedicated to helping raise the welfare of local farmers through business and farming education.
