Yayasan Keluarga Besar HOS Tjokroaminoto and Pic[k]Lock Films in association with MSH Films are proud to present the official trailer for “Guru Bangsa Tjokroaminoto“, a film created by Garin Nugroho. This film tells the story of the Dutch East Indies or Indonesia when entering a new phase that affect the lives of its people, part of the ethical policy conducted by the Dutch government. People still live in poverty and many of them do not get proper education and standard of living, making it a social disparities. Oemar Said Tjokroaminoto or better known in Indonesia as H. O. S. Tjokroaminoto was a nationalist, one of the leader of Syarekat Dagang Islam or Islamic Trade Union. Later he fought against the Dutch government to who is unable to give equalize rights and dignity, especially to the Bumiputera community in early 1900. Along with his two million members, H. O. S. Tjokroaminoto created a movement to provide public awareness and raise the dignity simultaneously.
The film “Guru Bangsa Tjokroaminoto” is produced by Christine Hakim, Dewi Umaya Rachman, Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh, Didi Petet, Nayaka Untara, and Ari Syarif. While the story is created by Garin Nugroho, Erik Supit, Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh, Ari Syarif, and Kemal Pasha Hidayat. It will have lots of famous actors and actresses, from Christine Hakim, Didi Petet, Alex Komang, Egy Fedly, Sujiwo Tedjo, Maia Estianty, Ibnu Jamil, Chelsea Islan, Tanta Ginting, Deva Mahenra, Ade Firman Hakim, Alex Abbad, Christoffer Nelwan, Gunawan Maryanto, Jay Widjajanto, Arjan Onderdenwijngaard, Gerard Mosterd, Rudi Corens, Martin Van Bommel, Joanna Dudley, to Putri Ayudya.
