Following the success of season one, which revolved around the murder case of O.J Simpson, Ryan Murphy resurrects the critically acclaimed show for the second season titled The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Focusing the storyline on the murder of world renowned designer Gianni Versace, it premiered last week on January 17th. The pilot episode has been very satisfying to watch as it drew 5.5 million viewers.

Not only about the technical and acting qualities of the casts, the show also managed to highlight the level of homophobia and prejudice by the law enforcement personnel, which halted the capture of Versace’s murder, Andrew Cunanan. This resulted to a eight-day manhunt which was ended by Cunanan’s suicide at a boathouse in Miami Beach.

Speaking of the cast, they went even more all out with household names such as Edgar Ramirez (Gianni Versace), Penelope Cruz (Donatella Versace), Darren Criss (Andrew Cunanan), and Ricky Martin (Antonio D’Amico). As the main characters are mostly Italian, Ramirez, Cruz, and Martin nailed the Italian accent, despite being Latin descendants. Ramirez also possess a striking resemblance to the late Gianni Versace.

The show is currently airing on FX every Wednesday at 10PM US Eastern Time (EST).
