One of the biggest pop alternative band based in Jakarta known as RAN recently uploaded two videos via their official YouTube account for their recent trip to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for The Monophone Music Festival 2015. The mini documentary highlights their performance at the festival which was held at the Limkokwing Hall of Fame on the 18th of April themed “Indonesian 90s Generation”. The Monophone itself is an annual event, organised by the Merah Putih Club, a club for Indonesian students studying in Limkokwing University and throughout Malaysia. It acts as a platform for Indonesian students to express and develop their talents and creativity while sharing their culture with the world. Monophone is one of the biggest events by the club, and it has been held successfully for five straight years, with each member of Merah Putih putting in hard work to organise the event. For this year, they brought RAN as the main guest star. They decided to do this because the band is so popular has won several awards including Rolling Stone Editor’s Choice Award and Best Group or Duo in Kids Choice Awards by Nickelodeon.
Aside having RAN as the main performer, The Monophone 2015 also featured the famous Saman Dance, a traditional Indonesian dance that requires the dancers to move together in a perfect harmony. For your quick information, Merah Putih Saman Dance won the most exciting cultural performance in Limkokwing Cultural Festival 2014, and the club has performed in front of many world leaders who visit Limkokwing University. Additionally, last year the event introduced a runway fashion show that showcased Indonesian traditional clothes. For this year fashion show, it featured traditional clothes designed by Indonesian fashion students in Limkokwing. There were music performances during the fashion show.
