Founded by Anders Fording, Design House Stockholm started as a creative product development company for other brands in 1992. Rather than selecting a designer to make a specific product, all designers are invited to bring their own personal ideas, of which some are selected for development and production. The ambition is to be a mirror of the very best Scandinavian design today. The term “Scandinavian” referring to philosophic and aesthetic perspective, rather than geography and nationality. Design House Stockholm prides itself on creating a collection of design classics with timeless appeal and qualities that outlive temporary trends.

Design House Stockholm collection include Demi Lamp, Block Lamp, Wave Hanger in black and white, plus Lotus Lantern that also available in black and white. Are all quality-made products created by four independent designers, representing both aesthetic design and function.

Demi Lamp designed by Mattias Stenberg. The lamp was found first at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2013. They had been looking for something new in Swedish Glass and here it was. Mattias Stenberg has designed a glass sculpture illuminated from the inside, highlighting the brilliance of the mouth-blown glass and creating a warm ambient light. The two glass parts are made by hand using traditional methods. An aluminium ring connects the two glass parts, equipped with an array of LEDs directed towards the centre of the lamp, making the glass seem almost to glow by itself from the inside. The glass dome acts as a reflector, further enhancing the effect.

Block Lamp designed by Harri Koskinen. For this item, he plays with contrasts and the archetypes of modern society in his Block Lamp which became a design classic as soon as it was launched in 1996. The Block Lamp has been showered with design awards ever since, including excellent Swedish Design in 1998, the Design Plus Award at the Ambiente Trade Fair in Frankfurt, as well as Best New Product at the accent show in New York in 1999. The lamp became part of MoMA’s permanent collection in 2000. Last year Harri received the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, Scandinavia’s most prominent design award.

While the Wave hanger designed by Nanni Holén. This item is available in black and white while it can extend as far as you like, just attach more hangers to each other. Nanni Holén’s organic design turns a hanger into something more, as well as creating a pattern of pointing shadows.

Last but not least is the Lotus hurricane lantern designed by Kristina Stark. This item comes in two sizes. The larger lantern accommodates standard taper candles and block candles. The smaller lantern is made for tealight candles. Lotus consists of a glass tube, a steel handle, and a polyresin base. Currently available in two color way such as white and black.
