For almost two decades now, Ethnicraft and its official distributor in Indonesia, The Ethnicraft Indonesia team, have been producing furniture in solid teak. Teak is the extremely strong, durable wood from the tectona grandis, which grows in the east Indies. The wood has a warm, intense glow that makes teak furniture extremely cosy and attractive. As for their 2015 collection, they decided to go back to the essence of good furniture, especially in the design. They strive for impeccable craftsmanship and create sustainable pieces full of character, made from solid teak that ages beautifully. Their design team is constantly experimenting with innovative techniques to treat the wood and to combine it with other, surprising materials.
As for the 2015 collection, here is the full summary of what you can expect from the Antwerp-based furniture labels. For the new Nordic range collection, they are now available in teak and walnut, which includes matching racks, console, coffee table, and tv cupboard. The stunning combination of refined design and the pure beauty of solid wood. The beveled edges of this collection give the furniture an extra finishing touch, while the contrast between closed and open spaces makes it a functional and accessible storage solution.
While their signature office desk is now revamped! Against a wall as a hall console or as an engaging study space, this elegant piece made from solid wood now also comes with a spacious drawer for extra storage. These models are available in both teak and walnut. Moreover, thanks to the lighter tone of solid oak, the Mr Marius Origami desk blends in well with bright interiors. Its colourful touches and retro design will add both character and humour to your room, while ensuring that your work and organization stays stylish. In 1995, Antwerp entrepreneur Philippe Delaisse decided to bring back a container of furniture and interior accessories from his holiday in indonesia, in order to sell them at home. Long time friend Benoit Loos heard about it and joined forces with Philippe. Together, they started to import one container every few months. After just one year, they had clients waiting at the Antwerp docks, numbered ticket in hand, to buy that one special item they coveted. The partners very quickly decided that they wanted to design and produce their own furniture, and set up their first manufacturing site in indonesia.
Today, their brand Ethnicraft is considered an international trendsetter with a huge impact on the market worldwide. In addition to their head office in boom, they also have offices near Marseille, in Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. Production facilities are spread over three different sites in indonesia, Vietnam, and Serbia, and they currently employ around 2000 people. In 2015 Ethnicraft branded furniture is sold through an extensive network of retailers in more than 50 countries worldwide. And they are still growing, with more and more customers in Asia, America, and Europe specifically asking for the brand.
