When her character was born back in 1941, at her core Wonder Woman has always been a silent manifesto of the feminist values and ethos. Now that the movie is being brought back to scene with a few touchups here and there, the excitement – especially from the die-hard Wonder Woman fans – is reaching its peak. But did you notice the murmurs of awe, sparks of adoration, or endless camera flashes aimed at this particular girl?
Gal Gadot is probably one of the luckiest actresses for having the chance to play the role of Wonder Woman. This legendary hero already has the powerful and strong image to begin with, making it easier for Gal Gadot to perform as the character but she was definitely chosen for a lot of reasons. She deserves the role like no one else does; and here are a few reasons why:
1. She rides bikes.
You might have known her since “Fast & Furious” where she was casted as Gisele Yashar, but did you know that she performed her own stunts during the whole movie? Topping that, she rides a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R motorbike and is, apparently, very into the vehicle.
2. She was pregnant while shooting Wonder Woman.
During the reshoots of Wonder Woman – which was around the last quarter of 2016 – Gal Gadot was reported 5-months pregnant with her second child. Producers had to use green-screen to cover the belly, but she nailed the tough and difficult scenes herself.
3. She was a rebellious Miss Israel.
The name “Miss Israel” – to her own surprise – was entitled to her back in 2004 before she was obliged to move on and join Miss Universe. She was, unfortunately, very reluctant to win again that she did a lot of rebellious things: Wearing the wrong outfit, coming late to rehearsals, even pretending to have awful English fluency.
4. She has a real military background.
After completing her duty as Miss Israel, Gal Gadot carried out two years of service as a combat instructor in the Israel Defense Forces. Pretty much explains why she could do her own stunts and even took several reasons for Wonder Woman including swordsmanship, Kung Fu, kickboxing, capoeira and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
That pretty much sums up why Gal Gadot was chosen to lead the Wonder Woman movie. In short, she simply defines the character – literally. That aside, have you watched the movie?
