The world of Autodromo is the creative vision of founder Bradley Price, an industrial designer who set out to craft unique products that express the spirit of motoring. Autodromo’s products draws aesthetic inspiration from golden age of motoring, when driving required style, panache, and perhaps a little bit of danger. The watch collection from Autodromo includes Stradale, Prototipo, Vallelunga, and Veloce are inspired by Italian sports cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The designs will take you back to golden age of motoring and transforms the modern timepiece into a classic pleasure blending luxury and sophistication.
The Autodromo Stradale draws inspiration from dashboard instruments from Italian sports berlinettas of the late 1950s and early 1960s, featuring a fascinating multi-layered dial. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal, the hour indexes are applied to a transparent glass ring, which floats over the colored dial below for a 3-dimensional effect. The custom designed leather strap makes reference to the luxurious and colorful interiors of the time. This timepiece is powered by a 24 jewel Japan made automatic movement, beautifully finished, and displayed behind a sapphire exhibition caseback. The Stradale arrives in beautifully conceived packaging evoking a road trip in Northern Italy circa 1960, complete with vintage inspired map hand stamped with your purchase date.
While the Prototipo draws aesthetic inspiration from vintage racing chronographs of the late 1960s and early 1970s, but with clean and yet modern detailing at every turn. Powered by an innovative Seiko hybrid meca-quartz movement, the watch features a sweep second hand and instant chronograph reset thanks to internal mechanical linkages shared with Seiko’s in house automatic movements. Prototipo delivers the reliability and precision of a quartz watch with the crisp pusher feel and visual delight of a mechanical chronograph. With the Prototipo Chronograph, Autodromo pays homage to the men who raced these thunderous machines flat out through the narrow streets of the Targa Florio, the serpentine curves of the Nürburgring, and the high speed straight at Le Mans.
Vallelunga is a beautifully minimalist watch inspired by racing tachometers used in many Italian Prototype and Grand Prix racing cars of late 1960s and early 1970s. Located just 20 miles outside of Rome, Vallelunga is a challenging road circuit designed by Italian racing legend Piero Taruffi. It was the site of many thrilling races in the 1960s and 1970s, featuring all of the legendary Italian marques. Last but not least is Veloce which means rapid, or speedy in Italian, and is inspired by a classic 1960s rev counter. Featuring distinctive “redline” markings on the dial, Veloce from Autodromo looks fast even when you are stuck in a business meeting. All of these watches are now available via The Watch Co.
