Neurotic was created back in 2012 by Jonathan “Jones” Mono. The band members have changed over the years, but now the band consists of Jones (Vocal & Multi-Instrumentalist), Rizky “Greybox” Argadipraja (Multi-Instrumentalist), Yosaviano “YSVN” Santoso (Multi-Instrumentalist), Karel Williams (Drums, Cowbell & Vocal), Ramandha “Uel” Satya (Drums & Samplers), and Dhani “The Unreal” Syah (Keyboard & Synthesizer.) They have been both nominated for Best Album 2014 by Rolling Stone Indonesia and Breakthrough Artist of the Year 2015 by Net TV.
They have recently released their second album, Dimensi Alternatif which Jones mostly produced by himself. On their second album, they have collaborated with a senior electronic group Rock N’ Roll Mafia, saxophone player Tommy Pratomo, newcomer soloist Ben Sihombing, and guest producer Randy M.P.
Jones stated that concept of the album relates strongly to fictional events in his imagination that he believes to be another version of reality. Hence the name of the album is Dimensi Alternatif. They have chosen Halusinasi as their first album single.
‘Halusinasi’ fuses reggae and pop with electronic sparks throughout the entire song. The lyrics circulate around psychedelia and how our brains react to psychedelic substances. This song implies that when one hallucinates, they speak only with their eyes. Rest assured, you will have a multi-colored imagination during and after Halusinasi.
Their teaser single ‘Gairah Sia-Sia’ is dream pop-y with a much bolder electronic element. The lyrics portray two lovers who long for each other but one of them doesn’t love the other any more. They’re stuck on a ‘to love or not to love’ situation and come up with zero solution. Instead, one of them refrains from making love to their lover.
Neurotic had not only released their latest album, but also their listener’s dopamine. Check out the rising electronic group and support their psychedelic vibes below.
