After dealing with Accupunto, The Goods Dept, and raise the popularity of digital agency Studio 1212, the 37-year-old man Leonard Theosabrata recently introduced his latest venture with Old World New Discovery or can be shortened as OWND. The brand is totally unique because it was selected, supported, and created by his own (the spirit which now known as “SelfMade”, based on the guerilla campaign that he shared through his Instagram account for the last few months).
So after few posts, we decided to go visit their both at the latest Brightspot Market to see what’s it all about. Through those event, we luckily met Mr. Theosabrata and asked a few questions regarding his new product. He mentioned that so far, the brand offers 3 pieces of products, such as a shoe sandal called Gorkhas, work apron made with heavy canvas, and denim jackets with Boro inspired patch (Japan’s own patchwork like needlecraft).
For the product that he mentioned first, Gorkhas comes in two models, namely the regular type and limited edition. For the first type, the product is available in oxblood and black color with both made from local genuine leather. For the second model, the product is is made from Horween Walnut Chromexcel leather, complete with Vibram Christy sole and curved side release buckle from a notable manufacturer YKK. It is durable and very well made. Products are great and now available with retail price ranging from IDR 1.500.000 to IDR 4.500.000.
For the apron, OWND provides each leather strap that has been hand dyed and finished using carnauba wax to give it a nice patina and wear protection. The heavy canvas apron also available in these colors, such as deep navy, khaki, and dark olive. As for the denim jacket, the product used Boro inspired patch and custom embroidery initial. In addition, there is also gold paint silkscreen with hand lettering customization on the back of the denim jacket.
